How local context and the ten-exchange window work
Local context helps short follow-ups but does not remember a topic forever.

How follow-up questions work
With Local only selected, the watch includes retained questions and answers from the active context window with your next request. This lets a follow-up such as “What language is spoken there?” refer to the place in your previous question.
The context window and reader history
The local model-context window covers up to ten completed question-and-answer exchanges. After that window ends, the next question begins a fresh context window. The separate reader can still show recent exchanges. Long messages can reduce the amount retained because watch storage is bounded.
If context remains enabled, retained local history can survive closing and reopening the app. Waiting ten minutes does not by itself request a reset. Reset conversation, changing relevant settings, an app-data loss or the context-window boundary can change what is available.
Keep the subject clear
If the assistant no longer understands “there”, “that one” or “the second option”, state the subject again. Do not rely on retained context for important facts that must remain accurate.
More context can take longer to process. Message allowance follows the plan’s message rules. Reset when you move to an unrelated topic.
